I have been travelling for over 40 years and writing about it for 20.

What started as trip reports about touring with an Irish singing group (Anuna) became a network of six content properties, each serving a different audience: flight logistics, Ireland travel, Vatican guidance, European rail, cruise reviews, and solo travel for the over-50s.

I am not a traditional developer. My background is in journalism, writing and producing for Irish media, followed by a long stretch as Head of IT at a City of London insurance firm. That combination of storytelling and systems thinking is what drives everything on this site.

Today I build AI-powered content pipelines that turn genuine travel experience into published articles across multiple properties. The CMS is custom-built. The automation runs through Make.com and Claude's API. The frontends are static sites on Cloudflare. The whole system is designed to let one person do the work of a small team without losing the authentic voice that readers trust.

PatrickHughes.ai is where I document how the system works. The travel sites are the proof of concept. The systems are the product.
